Compare apparel costs beyond the unit price
A framework for comparing manufacturer quotes with MOQs, sampling, tooling, freight and destination assumptions.
Keep the specification and currency consistent
Compare quotes for the same approved technical-pack version, quantity and commercial scope. Different currencies need an agreed exchange-rate source and date. Expired quotes, unqualified factories and quantities below MOQ are not directly comparable.
Expose every cost assumption
A working comparison starts with unit price multiplied by quantity, then adds quoted sampling, tooling, freight, duty, tax and other charges where applicable. Clarify the Incoterm and named place so included charges are not counted twice. The broker and agency validate the final landed basis.
Use quality and delivery evidence
Cost can carry 30% of an illustrative score, quality history 25%, delivery and capacity 20%, compliance maturity beyond minimum gates 15%, and communication 10%. Record the evidence and buyer rationale; scoring cannot override mandatory qualification.
